Read articleChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews now answer questions before anyone clicks. Here is how to stay visible when search no longer looks like ten blue links.
For twenty years, SEO meant one thing: get your page into the top ten results and hope for the click. That model is changing quickly. Google now shows AI Overviews above most informational results, ChatGPT and Perplexity answer questions directly, and a growing number of buyers ask an assistant for a recommendation before they search at all.
The good news is that the fundamentals still matter. AI tools build their answers from sources they consider trustworthy, and the signals they rely on look a lot like strong SEO. The difference is in emphasis.
Large language models pull facts from pages that state them clearly. A service page that says exactly what you do, where you do it, who it is for and what it costs is far easier to cite than a page full of vague brand language. Write the way people ask questions, then answer them in the first sentence.

AI systems cross-check information. If your business name, address and services appear consistently on directories, review sites, industry publications and social profiles, assistants are more confident recommending you. Inconsistent details or a thin footprint make you easy to skip.
When someone asks for the best dentist in Lahore or the most reliable builder in Birmingham, AI tools lean heavily on review volume, recency and sentiment. A steady flow of genuine reviews is now both a local SEO factor and an AI visibility factor.
Schema markup tells search engines and AI crawlers exactly what each page represents: an organisation, a service, a product, an FAQ or an article. It does not guarantee citations, but it removes ambiguity, and ambiguity is what keeps brands out of answers.
Start by asking ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your customers ask, and note which brands they recommend. Then tighten your service pages so each one answers a specific question directly, add FAQ sections written in natural search language, clean up your business listings and launch a simple review request process. Finally, look for credible third-party sites in your industry where your expertise could be featured.
SEO is not dying. It is expanding. The brands that treat AI assistants as another search engine to earn trust from will take a larger share of attention while everyone else debates if search still works.
